The 3YO son of Nostradamus under the guidance of Tom Madden quickly mustered to box seat during the run and eventually running down long-odds favourite Sir Woodpecker from the Tony & Calvin McEvoy stable.
Owned and bred by former Racing Victorian Chairman Mike Hurst, the victory was the perfect way to start the new association. “Mike puts a lot into racing in a number of areas including breeding so it’s great to get a first-up result for him.” Daniel said. Coming off a jumpout win at Terang a week earlier, the gelding has always shown good ability albeit will take time to fully furnish. “He is still learning his craft, but we feel this son of Nostradamus has plenty of upside and look forward to his future.” Daniel added. Breeding would suggest he gets out over a trip in time, being out of Astronomer Royal mare Southern Stars.
Despite the first-up win and the May carnival knocking on the door, Daniel has no definite plans. “As I said, he still has plenty to learn, so for now I will keep him to 3yo races.”
Congratulations to breeder/owner Mick Hurst.
