MISO’S METRO SUCCESS

20/1/2023

Promising galloper Miso chalked up his first metropolitan success with a strong all the way win at Sandown on Wednesday.
Starting the $1.70 favourite, he led at a strong tempo before holding out Toogoodfortoorak to score by three quarters of a length.
After jumping steadily from barrier one, Ethan Brown was able to drive through to lead after 100 metres.
From that point Brown had his rivals chasing before kicking strongly in the home straight.
Burdened effectively with topweight of 61.5kg, the 4YO son of Fighting Son showed great qualities in winning the Tobin Brothers Celebrating Lives Handicap over 1440m.
In winning, the gelding continues to build on an impressive record that now consists of three wins and two placings from five starts.
Looking to work his way through the grades, Daniel will target a BM70 next.
“At this stage, I don’t have any set plans, I will let the dust settle and find a BM70 in the city.”
When quizzed about a racing style similar to former stable star Begood Toya Mother, Daniel was circumspect.
“A few people have made that comparison, hopefully they are right.”
The win continues a terrific run for the stable that includes three wins from four runners to kick off 2023 in style.
Thirteen wins and 12 placings from the last 50 runners, has the team striking at an impressive 50% for top three finishes.
Congratulation to Miso’s owners Daryl and Jane, who have been loyal supporters of the stable since we started training.

STRAWBERRY ON TOP

9/1/2023

The saying ‘Strawberry on Top’ could not be more applicable for Strawberry Moon who notched up a hattrick of wins with another dominant display at Stawell on Friday.
With the king of country jockeys riding, Dean Yendall made light work of the rise in weight and distance to win the Russ Studio Jewellers BM58 Handicap over 1600m.
Settling on speed from barrier four, Yendall drove the mare to the lead on straightening, before easily holding off rivals, including placegetters Numpty and Dance Of Thunder.
Starting at $4.60, favourite punters never had any cause for concern.
The Horsham based hoop has ridden her in all three wins including her previous successes at Terang and Stawellrespectively.
In recording the hattrick, the $25,000 weanling purchase from2019 Inglis Great Southern Sale has comfortably erased thatfigure netting just over $44,000 in the past six weeks.
Managed by SCT Syndications for a host of owners, the 4YO daughter of Stratum Star has only raced eight times and looks capable of progressing through the class level according to Daniel.
“She is in great form at this level, we will now look for a suitable BM64.”
The stables second win for 2023 also keeps our current streak of good form rolling with 14 wins at 21.5% for the current season.
Congratulations to the owners in the little star affectionately called ‘Luna’ - SCT Syndications, Hello Possum, J Hedley, GJ McDougall, AEN Anderson, RC Andrews, PF Blewonski, Crow Family, LAPD, Happy Colac, NJ Monaghan, JM Monaghan, Three’s A Crowd, SA Moore & RJ Moore.

NEW YEAR HONOURS

1/1/2023

Honour De Hero helped kick off 2023 in the best possible way with a comfortable victory at the iconic Burrumbeet New Year’s Day meeting.
In front of a 5000 strong crowd, the mare was handled beautifully by Neil Farley around the tricky circuit.
Box-seating for most of the race, Farley had to bide his time as the field approached the home turn.
With four horses abreast at the 300m mark, the short straight was looking an issue as they waited for a run between the tiring leaders headed by Lady Ardoyne.
But there was little to worry about, the 5YO daughter of Von Costa De Hero sprinting quickly once she seen daylight.
She had over two lengths to spare over runner-up Mazzle inclaiming the Bet365 Protest Promise BM64 Handicap over 1350m.
Her third career victory, the mare has won two races from three starts this preparation, a win at Penshurst in November kicking off this successful campaign.
The win was welcomed after a frustrating day for the team at Warrnambool at the Woodford Cup meeting the day before.
From our five runners we netted three placings, including a close-up second with our promising galloper Miso.
The 2022 season ended with plenty of wins, seven during November and December, Strawberry Moon being the last for the year winning at Terang on December 20th.
With the Burrumbeet success, hopefully the winners continue to flow through the summer period into Autumn.
Congratulations to Honour De Hero’s owners, she is in terrific form and very well placed at this time of the season.
