At start number twenty, Aedesia was finally able to put the score on the board. Given a patient ride by Clayton Douglass, Aedesia won by half a length in the Johno's Diner 1624m Maiden Plate at Donald. Aedeisa holds a bit sentimental value to the stable, as she was the first horse we purchased from the Melbourne Premier Yearling Sales in 2015, when we started training on our own. Congratulations & thank you to her very patient owners! |
Now that another racing season is upon us, we at Daniel Bowman Racing thought it was timely to reflect on our past 12 months with the view to constantly improving. Going into the 2017-18 racing season, Daniel set the bar high for the team aiming for five metropolitan victories and 24 winners in total (two a month). Although we fell one short in terms of overall winners with 23, when we broke down the numbers it was impossible to be disappointed. From 181 starters we trained 23 winners (five metropolitan), 16 seconds, 27 thirds and an agonising 25 fourths! The most encouraging part of this statistic is the better than 50% top four strike rate, which suggests that even if we aren’t always winning we are more often than not providing our owners with a return in terms of prize money. Another highlight was the five metropolitan winners, which included a significant career milestone for Daniel in the shape of a Saturday metropolitan double at Caulfield in April when both Magnapal and Working From Home won on the same program. It would also be remiss of us not to mention the satisfaction the whole stable enjoyed when we trained a treble in front of a massive crowd at our home track Warrnambool on New Year’s Eve. Making that treble all the sweeter was the fact the first two winners, Roddandtodd and Wessels (Judges also won), were both horses selected and purchased by Daniel as yearlings. However despite a satisfying past 12 months we are far from resting on our laurels and are already focusing on how we can continue to improve our stable and ensure greater returns to our owners. Although our overall numbers haven’t increased for season 2018-19, our focus is upgrading the quality of races we win by trying to get the best out of our mature racehorses while nurturing and developing new talent to take the stable to the next level. We also want to continue to provide our owners with the best experience possible, whether that is ensuring they always feel connected and up to date with their horse through our methods of communication or maximising their return by placing each horse in the right race. One horse Daniel is particularly excited about seeing return to the races is last start Caulfield winner Working From Home. The daughter of Time Thief took her overall record to four wins from seven starts with impressive victories at both Moonee Valley and Caulfield last preparation. Now a fully mature five-year-old, Daniel expects her to be in for her best campaign yet and is aiming her towards the Alinghi Stakes at Caulfield in October. We couldn’t be more excited to share the upcoming season with our wonderful group of owners and look forward to what the future has to offer. If you’re interested in joining our stable, have been with us in the past or would simply like another horse to enjoy the thrill that only racehorse ownership can provide, then it’s worth mentioning that we still have limited shares available in selected two-year-olds hand-picked by Daniel earlier this year. Last season’s yearling purchases are now two, have completed their breaking in and education and have us jumping out of bed every morning to head to the track and see what they can do! |
