Debut win for Vixatious

21/6/2018

Four year old Foxwedge filly, Vixatious, has been given plenty of time to develop and mature. The owners were rewarded for their patience with a debut win over 1300m at Warrnambool.
Harry Coffey rolled forward from an outside barrier and dictated the race from start to finish.
Congratulations to her Western Australian owners Paul and Don.

A Huge Weekend Ahead!

Daniel Bowman Racing is looking forward to a huge weekend with six runners heading to Swan Hill for their famous June Carnival and Roddandtodd set to resume at Flemington on Saturday.
We’re particularly excited to welcome new owners Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock (ATB) into the stable with their horse Millinery set to resume over 975m at BM64 level in the sixth race at Swan Hill on Sunday.
The daughter of Helmet joins Bowman Racing having shown plenty of talent in her previous nine starts for Lindsay Park and appears to be thriving in her new environment.
Trainer Daniel Bowman said the four-year-old would take plenty of improvement out of the run but he expects her to run a big race for jockey Harry Coffey.
“She trialled very well at Werribee and it’s great to have our first runner for ATB, hopefully it’s the first of many,” Bowman said.
“She’s responding well to a change in environment and also a change in training. She’s a horse that doesn’t really handle a heavy workload as she has had a few muscle niggles from time to time but she seems to be going very well.”
Bowman is also eagerly awaiting the debut of three-year-old Moshe filly Gem ‘n’ Us for the Mathers family.
“She’s a half-sister to Group 3 winner Five All and has trialled well but she’s yet to have been put under full pressure so we won’t really know until race day,” he said.
One of the highlights on the Sunday every year at the Swan Hill Carnival is the Drought Breaker Maiden Plate over 1600m and Bowman said he is hoping it’s a case of horses for courses for Aedesia.
“She’s run two terrific thirds in each of her two previous starts at Swan Hill and if she could reproduce that form then she’d have to be a big chance.”
On Friday the stable will saddle Quarck in the 1200m BM78, with one of Victoria’s leading jockeys Linda Meech set to take the ride.
Meech will also partner Hot Hussler for the stable in the eighth race on Saturday over 1300m, with apprentice Melissa Julius to partner the stable’s other runner on the day, He’s The Bomb, in the fourth race.
The stable’s focus won’t be solely restricted to the Swan Hill Carnival however with talented three-year-old Roddandtodd set to resume in the last race at Flemington on Saturday over 1000m.
Bowman said he expected the son of Charge Forward, who finished close-up behind Nature Strip at his only previous run at Flemington, to run a bold race.
“He trialled as well as I expected him to as he’s not a great worker without the blinkers on but the winner of the trial came out and ran really well at Moonee Valley last Saturday which is a positive,” he said.
“He’s had one run down the straight and showed that he handles it and that was in a race that was probably stronger than what he tackles on Saturday.
“He’ll improve out of the run but I think he’s a genuine top three or four chance.”
We look forward to a great weekend of racing, the pumpkin soup at the races and Austy's famous bonfire.

Working Towards Something Special

Exciting mare Working From Home earned a possible start in the feature Wangoom Handicap at Warrnambool during the May Racing Carnival with an impressive victory at Moonee Valley.Having taken plenty of benefit out of her first up run at Flemington, the daughter of Time Thief was taken straight to the front by jockey Linda Meech and from there never gave her rivals a chance racing away to win comfortably by more than a length.
Trainer Daniel Bowman said the lightly-raced four-year-old, who was now won three of her six starts, would have her next start at Caulfield on April 14.
“She’s a really progressive mare and if she can win in Saturday class at Caulfield then she’ll deserve a chance at Stakes level,” Bowman said.
“She’s only had six starts and she’s yet to race anything fast enough that she’s had the chance to take a sit but I think she’s far from one dimensional.”
Working From Home is one of a number of lightly-raced, progressive gallopers in the stable another of which is the son of Melbourne Cup runner-up She’s Archie, Manhattan Arch.
Despite being beaten a nose by talented older galloper Jesta Dreama at Ballarat in his latest start, Bowman said he was far from disappointed in his horse’s effort and said he would press on to the $300,000 VOBIS 3YO Sires over 1600m at Caulfield on April 21.
“He’s still learning his craft and isn’t quite sure how to put a race away at this stage of his career,” he said.
“There was a significant gap back to third in the race and some pretty handy horses behind him.
“He’s going to only improve with more racing and maturity and his breeding suggests he has the scope to get over further in time.”
Working From Home and Manhattan Arch’s performances added to a terrific run of form for Daniel Bowman Racing in 2017 and the future for both horses and the rest of the emerging stable looks very bright.
As part of his focus on maximising returns to owners and ensuring the most enjoyable racing experience possible, Daniel has recently purchased four outstanding yearlings at the Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale.
