We made three purchases across the three sales last year with two already at the races and winning.
Barcelona Rock was purchased from the Sydney Inglis Ready 2 Race Sale in October.
He was purchased for $38,000.
After sustaining a fractured pedal bone last preparation, Rocco had to have a 3 month spell with a special shoe to assist with the healing process.
Whilst this was an unfortunate set back at the time, it has worked to our advantage. He has matured a lot more physically and matured.
With Master Bartholdin setting a strong tempo, jockey Declan Bates was able to get an easy run just behind behind him. Rounding the home turn, he edged off the rails to lay down his challenge.
He had to dig deep with Perfect Zed coming at him over the concluding stages. But he was able to put his nose down at the right time to get the win on the line.
With covid-19 restrictions starting to ease, it was great to see some of his owners enjoying the win on the balcony.
Congratulations to his owners Luke, Chappy, Josh, Heather, Neil, Cayle, Graeme, Mary, Nick Irene, David and the following syndicates Eno's Racing, Hard Men, Can't Make Training, Landslide Inc, Booligans and Starsearch.
Thank you also to Bellarine Peninsula Thoroughbred Agisment Park for taking great care of Rocco and completing his rehabilitation.
