Fortunate Kiss (Kylie) broke her Maiden status at Warracknabeal in the Ron Gebert Life Member Maiden Plate over a 1000m. After a slow start and settling 2nd last, jockey Dean Holland kept his cool and relaxed "Kylie" into a good rhythm. She gradually built momentum around the home turn and unleashed an almighty run down the centre of the track to win by 1.8 lengths. Kylie was able to demonstrate the natural ability we have seen at home and we look forward to her next run. Congratulations to our group of owners, especially to all those that had a birthday in the week leading up to Kylie's first win, what a great present!! |
Three year old Street Boss filly, Sidewalk Sinner recorded her maiden victory at Pakenham on Saturday in the Natural Living Maiden Plate over 1400m.
After not handling the soft conditions at Donald, the synthetic surface proved to be in her favour and is a key attribute for her moving forward. Ridden by apprentice Celine Gaudray, it was always going to be touch and go if she was going to real in the tear away leader. But with 100m to go, there was no doubt she was going to get the job done at the healthy odds of $13. Congratulations to her connections - Jason Bourke, Matt Vaughan, Jeffrey Sharp, Leah McDonald, Julie Bateman & co, Rhys Whitson, Chris Meade, Vince O'Loughlan, Daniel O'Loughlan, Judith McDonald, Magnificent Seven & Warrnambool Bowls Club No3. No doubt there will be more wins in store. Jo Jo Express finally broke her Maiden at Ballarat on Friday in the Plytrack Maiden Plate over 1500m.
Dean Yendall produced a perfectly time run after overcoming a wide barrier. With a strong burst down the middle of the track, she put her nose down at the right time to win by the smallest of margins. Jo Jo Express was purchased as a weanling from the 2018 Magic Millions weanling sales. Congratulations to the Molloy family and the connections who have been very patient. Two year old filly "Moon Over Alice" had to overcome the outside barrier to secure her Maiden victory at Geelong on Friday.
The plan was to settle in the second half of the field, but after a few of the first starters were slow to begin, Ben Allen used his initiative and rolled forward. Although she was quite wayward in the home straight, her race experience paid off to win by three quarters of a length. The Your Song filly was purchased from the Classic Sale last year. She has had three starts to date for a win, a second and a fifth in a Listed race at Flemington. No doubt she will continue to provide her owner with a lot of fun. Congratulations to Francis & Christine Cook, Rita Coffey, Neville Crane, Stephen Grant, Brian Hanns, John Morton, Luke Reichelt, Lee Roberts, Peter Roberts, June Roberts, Barry Shaw, Alan Wright, Robert Young, Tim Lowe, Younganold Synd, Yarriambiack Racing and STM 2020. Heading into the $500,000 Inglis Dash, we were confident Capriccio could run a bold race. But we were pleasantly surprised, when she demolished her rivals.
"She'd improved a lot and I knew that she was getting rated off her spring form and not on how she had improved," he said. The three year old I Am Invincible Filly, was the third leg of a treble for inform jockey Damian Lane. Damian allowed Capriccio to find her feet at the rear of the field before peeling to the outside. She unleashed an almighty run down the outside fence to win by three quarters of a length. Capriccio was purchased from the 2019 Inglis Premier Sale from Esker Lodge for $300,000. Congratulations to her winning connections Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock, SCG Racing, Bungan Street Thoroughbreds, Ray Carey, Karen Dunstan, Mick Hunt, Paul McDowall, Peter Roberts, Lee Roberts, Kerry Thompson, Murray Turner, Harry Uwland, Trevor Harty, Jane Doolan, Judi Tainsh and Val Moors. In testing conditions at Werribee, Olympic Spirit was able to add another string to his bow with a soft victory in the Spendthrift Australia BM58 2600m Handicap.
Although it is summer, the 4yo gelding ploughed through the Heavy 10 conditions to score by over 3 lengths. In the small field, Damien Thornton settled at the rear, before making a mid race move to take up the lead. At the top of the straight the race was over and done with as he careered away for an easy victory. Congratulations to the winning connections who have been very patient. The performance of Fortunate Kiss at Caulfield on Saturday was full of merit.
The 2yo Divine Prophet filly, finished 3rd in the Group 3 Chairman's Stakes, behind Blue Diamond favourite Enthaar. It was a courageous run by the bonny filly who was a little wayward in the home straight and had to do all the chasing. Her black type placing will add value to her pedigree page for when she becomes a broodmare, but before then we hope to have a lot more fun. Fortunate Kiss was purchased from the Sydney Classic Sale last year. The sale is on again this weekend and hopefully we can add to our stable with another high class purchase. Be sure to check out our "Go Racing 2021" page on our website: https://www.djbowmanracing.com/go-racing-2021.html Ocean Beyond secured the $140,000 Listed McKenzie Stakes at Moonee Valley on Saturday.
Not usually one to throw our horses in the deep end after a Maiden victory, it proved to be a smart move with the 3yo Ocean Park gelding defeating his rivals. Ridden by Harry Coffey, it was his first ride back in the city since the pandemic circumstances enforced him to have a stint on the sidelines. The break from racing hasn't deterred Harry's ambition to get back to the highest level. He rolled across from the outside barrier to sit alongside race favourite Deep Speed. Together they raced neck and neck, before Ocean Beyond was able to kick away and win. "It's great to see Harry get this opportunity from the owners. I first met Harry when I met my wife Denita at Wycheproof nine years ago, so it's good for him to ride a listed winner for us" Ocean Beyond was purchased through Waikato Stud after he was passed in from the NZ Ready to Run sales last year. Ocean Beyond has now headed to the paddock for a freshen up. Hopefully he can come back stronger and tackle some of the richer races in the Autumn. In very warm conditions, Early Plea headed to Swan Hill to take on the 975m "Lickety Split".
After beginning awkwardly, he soon mustered speed to lead the mad dash. At the top of the straight, Dean Holland urged him along and it was all over from there, going on to win by just over a length. It brought up Early Pleas second win from four starts. Both of his wins have been at Swan Hill over the 975m journey. He has now been turned out for a spell and will be back in the New Year. |
